Video: low flying plane almost hits tourist is St Barths on the way to Airport
St Maarten is not the only island with a world famous airport. The airport in St Barths is also considered a tourist attraction because of its low flying jets. As you can see in the video, this one tourist was almost decapitated while trying to take a photo of a low flying plane that was coming in for a landing at the St Barths Airport.
Last month we posted video of another tourist who was injured when he clung to the fence at the St Maarten Princess Juliana International Airport.
The Juliana airport is world famous for it’s low landing jets, but there are dozens of signs and barricades warning everyone of the danger.
There have been back and neck injuries reported, and certain airplanes have managed to flip automobiles parked nearby as they took off.
Tourists and some visitors alike are fully aware of the dangers, however the adventure seems worth the risk.
Youtube videos have made ‘sandblasting’ more popular than ever, with certain videos garnering tens of millions of views.
Pilots also seem to enjoy taking part in the sandblasting, and there even appears to be a competition sometimes among the pilots on who can land closest to the fence without touching it.
We posted last year when a low flying plane almost touched the top barb wired fence of the barrier separating the roadway from the Caravansarai Hotel.
We have posted many sandblasting video to Youtube and to Facebook and the comments usually go both ways.
Some people love to watch the video, and intend to come to St Maarten to try it out.
Other people, usually locals who are more experienced in the dangers of low flying jet blasts tend to discourage it, but they are usually outnumbered.
