PHILIPSBURG, St. Maarten (AP) — Smoke billowing from a cruise ship has prompted the evacuation of a few passengers and crewmembers and sent a fire crew racing to the docks on the Dutch Caribbean nation of St. Maarten, but officials say there were no reported injuries.
Carnival Cruise Line spokesman Vince Gulliksen said an overheated bearing caused smoke to emerge from the front section of the Carnival Liberty Friday morning. He says the problem has been resolved.
